10.26.18 Career Pathway Leadership Meeting Notes
The Northeastern NC Certified Career Pathways partnership held our annual Leadership Meeting on Friday, October 26 in the Williams building at Pitt Community College. Keynote speakers Kim Toler (Training Manager) and Danielle Street (Employee Development Specialist) with Nutrien in Aurora (Region Q) provided great detail about their robust apprenticeship program and the importance of this type of work-based learning to their company. Kim is also a member of the NCWorks Commission and serves on several other local and state boards.
Christy Harris, NE Regional CTE Coordinator shared some upcoming data about the growth we’ve seen in credentialing for high-school students over the past year. We will share more information about this once the full report is released. Rachel Bridgers with Pitt Community College Career Center (slides included in PPT) shared how partnerships and resources help connect the dots, and updated us on a new program with transitional studies students in curriculum programs. Larry Donley, NEPZ Regional Operations Director (slides included in PPT) shared information about the NCWorks Center Champions and the updated local implementation applications, which now include NCWorks Centers. Finally, Emily Nicholson (Assistant Director, Northeastern WDB) shared information about the NCWorks Local Innovation Fund. Applications for this funding are due on November 30, 2018.
Special thanks to our chairman, Walter Dorsey, for keeping us on track, and to all of our speakers for providing us with insight and information. Thanks to all who attended on such a dreary day. We look forward to another super successful year!
