Purpose:
Healthcare professionals should recognize that patient care, education, and leadership
inclusively necessitate recognizing that diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB)
are not standalone principles, philosophies, or practices. DEIB is deeply influenced by
broad societal events, perspectives, and perceptions.
Dr. Lewis unpacks the contextual factors influencing DEIB efforts in this two-hour
session. He emphasizes that belonging is the outcome of DEI and will explore how
mindset and language shifts represent the foundational steps in becoming a
transformative, inclusive leader.
